Has anyone rode the trail from Redbridge to Sturgeon Lake in the Sand Dam area?

Thanks
Mc

About 1 1/2 miles East of the Redbridge Gas station, there is a road that heads north and ends at the Power Line, thinking this is the Snowmobile trail in the Winter. The section from where the road ends to Sturgeon Lake runs on the Power Line a bit, and part of the trails looks like it goes through a Swamp, is there a trail around this section or is this trail "Good"?
Sturgeon Lake is beside Little Tomiko Lake, turn right on the Sand Dam Rd and head East toward Tomiko.

We don't use the power line anymore. you only cross it and use log roads all the way up to sand dam. You can still take the power line for some adventure but not necessary to go through.

how is the trail? I ride alot up Sand Dam/Notman Road area, would like to try it. Maybe we can get together and give it a shot some weekend. I assume you go in North River Road?

That is correct. Trail is not difficult at all in terms of mudholes and swamps. Not the mudder's dream trail.

So where abouts near Redbridge do you find that trail to head towards Sand Dam, we might consider doing that run this weekend?

since we ran into each other on the trail coming from opposite ends, thought i would post this for anyone else wanting to take a ride, trail runs from North River Road through to Sand Dam road, mostly skidoo trails, a couple of mudholes but nothing to worry about, had a good day overall. Even ran into a kid on another atv towing a boat and motor, no idea where he was going, lol.

finally made this trip, parked at entrance to Sand Damn Road, took Notman Road and a few scenic dead end old logging roads, but found the trail through to Tilden Lake, stopped for coffee at the Tomiko Restaurant and headed back, a little dusty but put 106km on the odometer. Had a great ride!

where abouts is the trail to tilden lake? never new one existed.

which is notman road? I am familiar with the area. That's not the road going through the mill is it? or is it the road to the left after you cross the railway tracks?

If you do a Google Earth you can actually see the road/trail being used. Now, if you are coming from Redbridge north, there is a "short cut" around Little Tomiko that would save you about 26 km or more!! :fuckoff: But that's another story!! :pissed: :finger:

Cheers

Hwy 11 turn onto the road that goes to the North Bay landfill, take Sand Dam Road maybe 1/2 km to Notman Road, hard to explain where to turn off Notman Road to find the trail to Tilden Lake as they're logging where the road used to end where the turn is, follow the trail! Stay to the left of the fork on the trail, lots of dead end logging roads in there, put 106km on my bike but found our way through. Nice but dusty. Logging during the week so be carefull of the trucks, I met one a couple weeks back and scary meeting one on a corner!!

You could go through the mill still, but its kind of hard going, a huge beaver dam across the old road. Bridge is gone across the river too. I park in the parking lot just off the highway and take the pipeline in to Notman Road. The road past the railroad tracks goes to Moose Lake I believe, and comes back out in a big loop to Weyerhauser Road(Sand Dam Road).

ok I had a look on google earth and I think I know what trail/road your talking about. I didn't realize it took off in the bush like that, figured it was logging only. I think I'll make a trip out there this fall. Looks like it would be nice.
